Like Xavier Dolan, Montrealer Chloé Robichaud is taking her first feature to the Cannes Film Festival. Her film Sarah préfère la course was named as part of the fest’s Un certain regard section, Thursday morning. Dolan’s last two films, Les amours imaginaires and Laurence Anyways, were shown in the same section in 2011 and 2012. It’s not Robichaud’s first time at Cannes; the Concordia graduate’s short film Chef en meute was presented in official competition last year. Sarah préfère la course tells the story of a young woman from rural Quebec who moves to Montreal with her boyfriend to run with a university track team. The film will be released in Quebec on June 7.
